Baby Clothes by Size
Baby Clothes by Size
Choosing the right baby clothing size becomes much easier when everything is organised by age and height.
In this category, we have grouped Tunes baby clothes by age ranges so you can quickly find the right size for your little one. Here you can shop newborn and baby clothing by month, using the standard baby size scale: 56, 62, 68, 74 and 80 cm.
Baby clothes are often selected according to age, but the best guide is always your baby's actual height and measurements.
Baby Clothing Sizes by Age
Size 0–3 Months
This category includes clothing for newborn babies from the first days of life up to around three months.
Here you will find baby clothes in sizes 56 and 62 cm.
These sizes are usually chosen for a maternity hospital bag, first outfits, newborn sleepsuits, bodysuits, footed pants, hats and other first wardrobe essentials.
Size 3–6 Months
Baby clothes in this category are designed for babies up to approximately 68 cm in height.
This is the stage when babies become more active, so comfortable cuts, soft fabrics and practical fasteners become especially important.
Size 6–9 Months
This category includes clothing in size 74 cm.
You can usually choose this size when your baby's height is around 67–68 cm and you want the clothing to fit comfortably without being too tight.
Size 9–12 Months
This category includes baby clothes for babies up to approximately 80 cm in height.
Here you will find sleepsuits, bodysuits, pants and other everyday essentials for growing babies who are already moving, crawling or taking their first steps.
What Size Should You Buy for a Newborn?
One of the most common questions parents ask is:
What size should I buy for a newborn baby?
The most important thing is to focus on your baby's measurements. Babies do not always grow according to standard charts, and sizing can be very individual.
For example, it is completely normal when a baby needs a bodysuit in size 68 cm and pants in size 74 cm. Different types of clothing may fit differently depending on the baby's body shape, height and proportions.
What Size Should You Buy for the Maternity Hospital?
Parents often wonder whether they should choose size 56 or 62 for the maternity hospital.
The best guide is your final ultrasound and your doctor's estimate of the baby's expected birth weight and height.
If the doctor says the baby may be larger, size 62 cm may be the better choice. If there are no signs that the baby will be bigger than average, size 56 cm is usually ideal.
In most cases, size 56 cm is the best first size for a newborn baby.
When Is Size 50 Needed?
Newborn clothing usually starts from size 50 cm.
This size is most often needed for babies with a lower birth weight or for twins. If your baby is expected to be very small, size 50 may be useful for the first days or weeks.
How to Choose the Right Baby Clothing Size
Here are a few simple rules to help you choose the right size:
- do not buy too many clothes “for growth”, because babies may skip some sizes very quickly;
- avoid buying clothes if you are not sure about your baby's current height;
- do not choose clothing that fits too tightly;
- if your baby is 61 cm tall, it is usually better to choose size 68 instead of size 62;
- use the same principle for other sizes;
- baby head size does not always match standard age charts, so it is best to measure your baby's head circumference with a measuring tape.
